Singer Jyotirmayee Nayak from Odisha was crowned the winner of Indian Idol Season 16 on Sunday. She took home the winner’s trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 20 lakh after emerging victorious in the grand finale.

After months of soulful performances, emotional moments and fierce competition, Indian Idol Season 16 has finally found its winner in Odisha’s Jyotirmayee Nayak.

On Sunday, Jyotirmayee beat fellow finalists Anshika Chonkar, Manraj Veer Singh, Myscmme Bosu, Suhail Sufi and Tanishk Shukla to take home the title and prize money of Rs 20 lakh.

While the singer impressed the judges consistently throughout the season, a few performances stood out. Her rendition of O Jab Tak Hai Jaan Jaane Jahan Main Nachungi earned a standing ovation from veteran actor Hema Malini, while her version of Jaane Kyun Log Mohabbat Kiya Karte Hain left Leena Chandavarkar so moved that she expressed a wish to hear the iconic track in Jyotirmayee’s voice again.
